Rest in peace

Friday afternoon
Barb was awake when I got there this morning so got to visit a little bit. She's taking her fluids mostly off the "sponge on a stick" and through ice chips. She was very itchy again and asked me to scratch her head and neck. Evidently I wasn't rubbing hard enough because she told me to "use your nails" but I told her I didn't have much for fingernails so I massaged harder to try to make up for it. I asked if anything but her head itched and she said it was all over so we had the nurse give her more Benadryl to ease her discomfort. That kind of knocked her out and she was still sleeping when I left this afternoon.

Wednesday afternoon
Barbi's flying back to TX tomorrow morning. They have upped Barb's pain meds and today she was having itching problems so we asked if they could relieve that for her; she now has a standing order for Benadryl every 6 hours if needed. She was kind of awake when I got there today and smiled every now and then when I was talking to her so I think she was processing okay. She's still drinking by mouth, asked for some Coke and had water from the handsome nurse she's trying to set Barbi up with (but he's only 27).
Marge was off to her class reunion for a few hours and then will stay overnight when Barbi and Willie go home. Willie said Pastor and Karol both talked to him about his not wanting to stay around anymore when Barb's gone and I told him he had a lot more people than just Barb who cared about him.
Barbi said Barb was awake during the night talking about lots of things - some she could make sense of, and some not so much. They enjoyed watching the lightning out the window during the storm.
